How many books are in the Bible?

There are 66 Books in the Bible

The first 5 books of the Bible are:

  • Genesis
  • Exodus
  • Leviticus
  • Numbers
  • Deuteronomy

These 5 books are known as the Books of Law.  In Hebrew these books are know as the Torah, and in the Greek they are known as the Pentateuch.

The first book in the New Testament is the Gospel of Matthew.  Matthew’s Gospel is immediately followed by the other three Gospels of the New Testament, which are the:

  • Gospel of Mark
  • Gospel of Luke
  • Gospel of John

The last book of the Old Testament is Malachi.
